Gonorrhoea

What is Gonorrhoea?

Gonorrhoea is the second most commonly reported sexually transmitted infection (STIs). It is a bacterial infection which is caused due to unprotected vaginal, oral or anal sexual act with an infected person. You can also get infected with this bacterium if you share your sex toys with an infected person. It is more common in people who are in their late teens and early 20s. This infection often remains ignored for a long time and that is why it is often left untreated. It can cause serious health complications if not treated on time.

What are the symptoms?

The most common gonorrhoea symptoms include rashes, bleeding, itching, bleeding and painful bowel movements. Most of the men may experience yellow or green discharge from the tip of the sex organ, a burning sensation while urinating and swollen testicles, while women experiences unusual vaginal discharge, pain while urinating and vaginal bleeding between periods. People who got infection because of anal sexual encounter can experience rectal pain or discharge. If the infection is spread orally then you may also experience a sore throat.

What causes it?

The number of people who are getting infected with gonorrhoea is increasing. The bacterium which causes gonorrhoea is known as neisseria gonorrhoea. It spreads between sexual partners who indulge in unprotected vaginal, oral or anal sexual acts. It may also spread between partners who share sex toys when one of the partners is infected. During the process of delivery, an infected mother can also pass it on the infection to her child which can lead to a serious eye infection.

What happens if an infection is left untreated?

This infection of neisseria gonorrhoea does not cause immediate effects, but if left untreated for a long time it can affect your normal health adversely. Gonorrhoea symptoms also increase the risk of you getting infected with HIV. It can also increase the risk of infertility and ectopic pregnancy in case of women, while men might develop epididymitis which can ultimately cause infertility.

What gonorrhoea treatments are available?

The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) has recommended the use of two different antibiotics in order to treat gonorrhoea. Cefixime and Azithromycin are two medications which can be used to treat this bacterial infection in a comprehensive way. Both the medications kill the viral cell by inhibiting their multiplication and reproduction by destroying the cellular structure. Since the viral cells are not able to multiply any more, they are easily targeted by body’s immune system.

Are these gonorrhoea treatments available online?

You can buy these gonorrhoea treatments, Cefixime and Azithromycin, very easily from online registered pharmacies. You would be asked to go through a free and confidential online consultation with a licensed doctor. A consultation helps a medical professional to estimate whether the ordered medication is safe for you or not. You are supposed to discuss your past medical history openly with your doctor so that they can guide you better. If the doctor approves of the consultation then your ordered medication will be delivered discreetly at your doorstep. You can also order a gonorrhoea test kit so that you can take the test at your home only. You are provided with a specimen tube which you should send back to the laboratory with your urine sample.
